Welcome

Untitled-1.jpg

Born in Verviers, Belgium, Sylvie Nolis (née Zurstrassen) began her formal art education at the Artistic High School of St. Luc in Liege, Belgium, before attending the Parsons School of Design in Paris, France, and subsequently the National School of Visual Arts of La Cambre in Brussels, Belgium.  She moved to New York in 1996, where she has continued to work and has participated in numerous exhibitions in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Sylvie Nolis' work draws inspiration from many sources -- nature, industrial design, and computer-generated graphics, to name a few.  What first appear to be primitive shapes quickly evince a more complex structure of color and form allowing the viewer to begin to explore the intricate relationships between the layers and textures.
